Plastic Free July began with a few people in 2011 who had a big idea: what if we could each make small, sustainable lifestyle changes to result in a larger global environmental impact?
Since this humble beginning, the Plastic Free Foundation has seen hundreds of millions of people join in this global initiative to make simple changes in consuming single use plastics and creating a more sustainable and eco friendly lifestyle, which takes plastics out of our oceans and off our streets and creating a mindfulness that current consumers lack.
The idea is to pick ONE thing that you're currently using that involve single use plastics, and switch it for something sustainable. Plastic straws for reusable ones, plastic coffee cups for a washable thermos, or our favorite: plastic bags for reusable bags.
It's becoming more and more common for businesses to do away with single use plastic bags completely in favor of encouraging patrons to bring their own, and rather than fight it, we carry a lot of really cute and fun bags that allow you to embrace it and make it fun!
Benefits to reusable bags:
1. Reducing trash in the land waste.
Choosing reusable bags over single use bags can bring longevity to your shopping experience, as these totes are able to be used over and over for many years, and can carry a great deal more than plastic bags can.
2. Convenience of Reusable Bags
As single use bags are being phased out of stores around the world, and many cities are banning them completely, it's becoming not only more convenient, but also more necessary to keep them on hand for shopping trips. Why carry loose groceries when you have a perfectly good bag already on hand?
3. Style and Quality of Bags in a Sustainable Lifestyle
Each bag can be chosen with your specific style and tastes in mind! Customize your shopping experience and make it a bright spot of joy and delight for yourself! There is an option for everyone!
4. Live a Healthy Lifestyle with Sustainability
Taking care of the planet we live on and ensuring we have something wonderful to pass down to our children and grandchildren is now more important than ever before. Single use plastic bags are not only destructive to the environment due to the harm that's done by entrapping wild animals and causing premature death, but also release harmful microplastics into soil and waterways that poison our own health and way of life. Eliminating the use of plastic bags won't solve this completely, but it can make a drastic impact in the fight to care for the planet.
